One-Way

One-Way

For this urban art project, I invited citizens from the Municipality of Saint-Zotique to dip their feet in paint and make their mark. Each citizen who participated chose a color and walked a little while along their path. Starting wherever they wished, and getting out whenever they were ready to end their trip, so long as they never took the path of another. As we don’t in life.

Inspiring myself off their steps, I then traced the path in white to define their intertwined life lines. Together, artist and citizens, young and old, we painted in all the colors within those outlined spaces to form a vibrant representation in honor of the local community.

We interact with others on an ongoing basis, but never shall we have the exact same life experience, and often shall we be influenced by those who have come before us, by their words as well as their actions.

… we all have a one-way ticket in life…

… how we choose to live it is up to each of us…

… on our way we will ceaselessly interact with other existences…

… those presented here on this path are of the men, women, children, neighbors of the community…

… we must see and appreciate it for all the life it contains; for all the unique individuals it includes; for its simplicity, but also for its beautiful complexity.
